While marching in parade formation, troops swing their legs in unison high off the ground, while keeping their legs straight and unbent.正步是在正式的军事阅兵或者其他庆典场合采用的特殊前进步伐。阅兵行进时，全体士兵统一将腿交替抬高离地，同时保持双腿挺直、不弯曲。

"Goose step" is a pejorative term in English, indicative of authoritarian and militaristic regimes.
