work something into something: to add or include something in something

例：

She tried to find a way of working her question into the conversation.（她想在聊天时尽量找个合适的点，把这个问题问了。）

You should work more fresh fruit into your diet.（你平常应该多吃点新鲜水果。）

Here are a few goodies you can work into your daily diet.（给你些好吃的东西，平常可以吃的。）

Work the butter into the flour.（加点黄油到面粉里。）

备注：剧中''work it into the conversation''，跟Carlos之前说的''mention casually''意思相近，“顺带提一提（你的项链多少钱）”，其中的''it''指的是''how much I paid for your necklace''。

from scratch: with ingredients you have prepared yourself rather than with a prepared mixture of ingredients bought from a store

例：

剧中的''muffins she baked from scratch''说明“这些松饼中的每样材料都是亲手做的，没有用买来的材料”。

补充：''from scratch''还有''from a point nothing has been done yet''的意思，即“从零开始、白手起家”。

如：

We had to start again from scratch .（我们又得从头开始做了。）

He had built the business up from scratch .（他是白手起家的。）

备注：''work (something) in''与''work something into something''用法相近。

例：

During the speech, he worked in a few jokes.（他在演讲中穿插了几个笑话。）

She worked in several important points in her article.（她在文章中加入了几个重要的观点。）

''half''解释为“一半”还是“大部分”，主要看想表达的意思。所以剧中翻译成“大部分”更妥当些。
